Being taken into care is hard enough. Being moved a couple of hundred miles from your school, your friends and everyone who knows your name is a second loss stacked on the first. It happens to around 17,000 children a year.

Who they are
Become is the national charity for children in care and young care leavers. Every year, thousands of children are moved 20 miles or more from the people and places they know. Some are moved more than 500 miles. Often it happens without warning.
What they do about it
Become stands alongside those young people, amplifies their voices, and campaigns to keep them close to home. That means direct support for individuals as well as pressure on the system that keeps producing the moves in the first place.
How to back them
Become has a page on help2fund.org. Donations go directly to the charity through Stripe, minus only the standard card fee. Help2Fund takes nothing.
Moving a child hundreds of miles from everyone they know should be the last resort, not the routine one. That is what Become is trying to change.
