BeLifted Now Joins Help2Fund

Free support for women, girls and families across north London, built one request at a time. BeLifted Now is the newest charity to join Help2Fund.

Who they are

BeLifted Now works across Barnet, Brent and Camden, supporting women, girls and families with practical help in the places it is hardest to find. Everything they offer is free at the point of use, and that is not a detail. It is the organising principle of the whole charity.

BeLifted Now

What they run

A debt and welfare advice surgery, offering personalised financial support to women dealing with arrears, benefit problems and the sort of paperwork that is designed to be difficult.

Wellbeing groups for mothers and daughters, focused on health, resilience and giving two generations a reason to be in the same room doing something that is not an argument about school.

A running group for women, which does what running groups do: builds fitness, and more importantly builds a set of people who notice when you do not turn up.

Kids' fitness classes, aimed at establishing healthy habits early rather than trying to install them at thirty.

A children's book club, on the straightforward theory that a child who enjoys reading has an advantage that compounds for the rest of their life.

BeLifted Now: all of it is free

Why the list looks like that

Read that list cold and it can seem scattered. A debt surgery and a book club are not obviously the same line of work.

It makes sense once you know how it was built. Every programme exists because somebody asked for it. A woman came in about her arrears and mentioned she had nowhere to take her daughter. Somebody wanted to start running and had nobody to run with. Nothing was designed in a planning meeting and then marketed at the community. It was requested, and then built.

The other half of the explanation is who these programmes are for. The women BeLifted Now works with are, almost by definition, the ones who could not pay privately for any of it. Private debt advice, a wellbeing course, a gym membership, a children's activity class: all of these exist commercially and all of them are out of reach. The charity's answer is to provide them and charge nothing, which is why the funding matters.

Where your money goes

A £2 donation helps cover materials for a session at the children's book club.

A £5 donation goes towards the cost of a kids' fitness class.

A £10 donation supports a woman attending the running group.

A £20 donation funds a place at a mother and daughter wellbeing group.

A £50 donation covers a full debt and welfare advice session for a woman in crisis, which is often the single highest-value hour anyone will spend on her situation that year.

About Help2Fund

Help2Fund is a free platform that gives small registered charities in England and Wales promotional support and fundraising infrastructure they would otherwise have to pay for. It is run by a team of volunteers, and the support is personalised to each charity rather than sold as a fixed package: some partners want social media content, some want a donation page, some want help telling a story they have never had the time to write down. Nothing is ever published without the charity signing it off first. In-person volunteering sessions with our partner charities are planned for the future.

With the right support behind them, most families can move forward. BeLifted Now exists to make sure the price of that support is never the reason they do not.
